"Supervision during resistance training positively influences muscular adaptations in resistance-trained individuals"
Does having someone supervise your workout actually make a difference? Let's take a deeper look shall we.
A recent study conducted in June of 2023. Looked at the
differences between supervised & non supervised training.
For 8 weeks, 36 men & women were given a resistance
training program (RT).
One group was supervised, the other not. After the study was finished each individual was assessed.
Upper & lower Limb muscle thickness was measured.
As well as 1 rep max on certain exercises.
After 8 weeks of training the results showed....
Supervised training reigned supreme.
Individuals that were trained supervised generally gained more muscle thickness & strength. Compared to non supervised individuals.
“In conclusion, our findings suggest that supervised RT promotes greater muscular adaptations and enhances exercise adherence in young, resistance-trained individuals.”
Based off the name we already kinda knew what the results would be. Any time you're able to have a partner, spotter, or a coach to supervise your lifts. You will 100% get better results. Why?
Motivation, Form check, & help when the lift gets sticky. An outside perspective can give you a lot of insight into factors you didn't know existed. If you're at a plateau, consider having someone come monitor your workouts. A friend, gym partner, or anyone. That extra bit of help could be what you need to push past your plateau.
